Jurassic and Cretaceous trigoniid bivalves from west-central Argentina - BAP #343
This monograph describes 73 species and 1 subspecies of precisely dated Trigoniidae from the Lower Jurassic (Liassic) to the Upper Cretaceous (Maastrichtian) of western central Argentina. These are classified into 14 subfamilies. Ten new species and one new subspecies are established. Comments on the Family Trigoniidae, as well as taxonomic considerations, stratigraphic occurrence, and facies relationships of the described species are presented. With the new taxonomy proposed here, the trigoniids have a much greater temporal resolution than previously thought, especially at the species level.
